Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data EyeOne collects when you use our websites (eyeone.com, its language sites and eyeone.no), our games, including EyeOne Chess on Facebook and Messenger, and our SaaS products. It also explains why we collect the data, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.

Who we are
EyeOne is owned and operated by Fabrice Miras, who is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. For any question about this policy or your data, write to fabrice.miras@eyeone.com or use the Contact page.
What we collect on our websites
When you contact us, apply for a role or create an account, we store the details you enter: your name and email address, and optionally your company, phone number, postal address and message. If you play our games while signed in, we store your scores. When you visit the site, we log your IP address, the pages you request, the referring page and your browser's user agent, and we derive an approximate location (country, region and city) and network owner from your IP address.
What we collect in our games
You can play our games without an account. When you play EyeOne Chess online, we store the display name you choose and a record of each game you play: the two players' display names, the moves, the clock settings, the result and the start and end times. Our game server also sees your IP address while you are connected. Lobby chat messages are passed on to the other players but are not stored. Games may keep settings, such as sound or view preferences, in your browser's local storage, which stays on your device.
EyeOne Chess on Facebook and Messenger
When you play EyeOne Chess as a Facebook Instant Game, Meta gives the game your Facebook name and a game-specific player ID. We use your name only to fill in your display name. We do not receive your email address, your friends list or any other Facebook profile data. Meta's own processing on Facebook and Messenger is covered by Meta's Privacy Policy.
Advertising
Our websites do not show ads. Our games on Facebook and Messenger may show ads served by Meta Audience Network. To show and measure these ads, Meta may use information such as your Facebook account data, device identifiers and how you interact with the ads, under Meta's Privacy Policy and the ad settings in your Facebook account. Whether ads are personalized depends on the choices you have made with Meta. We do not send Meta personal data from our own systems, and we receive only aggregated ad performance reports. We do not sell personal data.
How we use your data
We use your data to answer inquiries and job applications, to run your account and subscriptions, to run our games, online matches and leaderboards, to understand and protect traffic to our services, to show ads in our Facebook games, and to meet our legal obligations.
Legal basis
Under the GDPR and the Norwegian Personal Data Act, we process your data to provide a service you ask for, such as an account, a subscription or an online game (contract). We also process it to answer inquiries, keep our services secure and analyse traffic (legitimate interests), and to keep accounting records (legal obligation). Where consent is required, such as for personalized ads on Facebook, Meta asks for it, and you can withdraw it at any time in your Facebook settings.
Cookies and local storage
We set one essential cookie, eyeone_session, when you sign in. It keeps you signed in for up to seven days and is removed when you sign out. Our websites do not use advertising or third-party analytics cookies. Our games may use your browser's local storage for settings. On Facebook and Messenger, Meta may use cookies and similar technologies as described in Meta's Cookies Policy.
Who we share data with
Your data is stored in EyeOne's own SQL Server database on our own servers, and the emails we send you, such as replies and password resets, go through our own email server. Location lookups use a local copy of the DB-IP Lite database, so your IP address is not sent to a third party for this. When you play on Facebook or Messenger, Meta processes data as described above, and Meta may transfer it outside the EU/EEA under its own safeguards. We share data with authorities only when the law requires it. We do not sell or rent personal data.
How long we keep it
We keep inquiries and applications for as long as we need them to follow up, and account data and scores until you ask us to delete them. We keep online chess game records for game history until you ask us to delete them. We keep visit logs and server logs only as long as they are useful for security and traffic analysis, and accounting records as long as the law requires.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal data, to receive a copy of it, to restrict how we use it, or to object to how we use it. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Signed-in users can update their profile on the Account page. If you live in the EU/EEA or Norway, you can also complain to your national data protection authority. In Norway, that is Datatilsynet.
How to delete your data
To delete your data, including your account, scores or EyeOne Chess games, email fabrice.miras@eyeone.com with the subject "Delete my data". Include the email address of your account or, for chess, the display name you played under and roughly when you played. We will confirm and delete your data within 30 days. If you play on Facebook, you can also remove EyeOne Chess in your Facebook settings, which stops Meta from sharing your data with the game.
Children
Our services are not directed at children under 13, and Facebook requires players to be at least 13. If we learn that we have collected personal data from a child under 13, we will delete it.
Security
All traffic to our websites and game server is encrypted with HTTPS/TLS. Access to our databases and servers is restricted to the people who need it to run our services.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our services change. We will change the date at the top of this page, and we will point out important changes on our websites or in our games.
Contact
For questions about this policy or your data, email fabrice.miras@eyeone.com or send us a message through the Contact page.
